Chamber Council

Chamber Council 09-10
The function of Council is to promote the Chamber and become recognised as the leading business forum within the city region and represent the membership through the work of the Chamber's various committees and forums.

Council is elected by the general membership of the Chamber of Commerce. Members are elected for a three-year term of office before having to either stand down or seek re-election. Members of the Council are not there to oversee the strategic direction and management of the Chamber, but they have a duty to represent the views of our members to local and national government and other key agencies.

Elected members serve on Council for 3 years and are eligible for re-election after their term of office. Any member company can nominate a candidate to stand for election; this must however be proposed and seconded by other members. All candidates must be part of a fully paid up member organisation, however candidates stand in their own right, and if elected sit on Council as an individual and not as a representative of the member organisation
