Sheffield Chamber’s ‘Inspiring Women’ forum is putting its money where its mouth is by supporting the city’s young entrepreneurs.
The business idea helped the students - Leila Hussain, 16, Lubna Hussain, 14, Gloria Luboya, 17, and Tahia Tufail, 17 – to beat off the competition and claim the post-16 category title at the BiG Challenge Awards held at Sheffield City Hall. Dream Team also proved to be a big hit when they were tasked with impressing more than 160 guests at the forum’s ‘Be Inspired’ day, and, toughest of all, former Dragon’s Den star and speaker on the day Rachel Elnaugh, with a food henna tattooing stall. Dream Team were mentored throughout the ‘BiG Challenge’ competition by Inspiring Women member Faith Douglas, from NatWest Bank in Sheffield city centre, who helped them win the overall ‘Best Presentation’ award. Helen Rana, policy and representation manager at SCCI, said: “The students from Dream Team once again excelled themselves with a delicious spread of food which certainly made our meeting more enjoyable. “Not only did the students provide the usual breakfast foods such as croissants and fruit, but they also offered a selection of Asian breakfast foods, which proved to be the most popular. “It will be no surprise to members of Inspiring Women that they won the BiG Challenge Award. The team combined organisational skills with research and business acumen to ensure both events went well, and I hope they go on to be very successful in the future.” Inspiring Women next event will be a networking evening at Whirlow Hall Farm in June, with a talk on how to run a charity as a business.
