A partnership between Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will keep the region’s business people at the forefront of international trade procedures. Sheffield Chamber, through its international trade arm South Yorkshire International Trade Centre (SYITC), has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with HMRC. The agreement will see the two organisations combine their efforts to keep exporters in South Yorkshire informed and up-to-date with import, export and Customs’ procedures. SYITC will host a series of free HMRC seminars on different subjects such as basic importing/exporting, outward processing relief, customs warehousing, preference and inward processing relief. SYITC international trade manager Renate Halton said: “This collaboration is great news and shows that we are continuing to expand and build upon the portfolio of services we can offer. “Working alongside HMRC presents a fantastic opportunity for companies to understand HMRC procedures, which will ultimately help them save time and money. “Import and export procedures can often prove to be quite complicated and is ever-changing; this is a fantastic opportunity to keep the business community informed.” The first briefing entitled ‘Basic Import/Export from a Customs Perspective’ will inform attendees on basic import/export terminology, outlining Customs’ procedures and advise of cost-reducing techniques. The briefing will be taking place on the 6 August at Sheffield Chamber’s Albion House. To book a place at the ‘Basic Import/Export from a Customs Perspective’ please contact HMRC on 01642 795 037. |
