Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Sheffield International Developments are recruiting UK companies for the Asia Invest Matchmaking Medical Devices event.

The event, which is being held on September 13 and 14 in Bangkok, Thailand, will bring together more than 40 European companies and up to 80 companies from Thailand and China to forge business links.

Companies attending the event can select partner companies they want to have a one-to-one meeting with and individual meeting agendas will be drawn up for each participating company.

Sheffield International Developments Project Co-ordinator Laura Grieve said: “Thailand is a market with a lot of potential and a significant number of business opportunities. Thailand relies heavily on imported medical devices and the sector is expected to grow by approximately 20 per cent throughout 2007.

“Companies from the new EU accession states as well as Thailand and China will be present at the event so we’re expecting it to be a very successful business exchange for participants.

“The matchmaking element of the event will ensure that companies spend time making links with businesses that are relevant to them.”

Sheffield Chamber has already established strong links and connections with businesses and organisations in Thailand after being appointed UK National Counsellor for the EU-Thai Partenariat 2005.

The HOSPIMedica event, which is co-financed by the EU’s Asia Invest Programme, has been primarily organised by SPECTARIS and will take place at the Queen’s Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thailand.

The matchmaking event comprises a half day seminar outlining market trends and industrial co-operation and one and a half days of individual business meetings.
