The work of Sheffield Chamber’s transport forum is being felt across the city as the inner ring road nears completion.
The Chamber had been calling for the congestion problems in the city to be investigated for a number of years and now a project designed to do just that is nearing completion.
Tim Hale, deputy chair of the transport forum, said: "The chamber was pushing for the inner ring road to be completed for a significant number of years. "It's been quite a long time coming but the relief road is now almost finished and we're waiting with bated breath to see whether it eases the problems. "We're hopeful that the project will mean that the city no longer comes to a standstill when a single vehicle breaks down on a major road in the city centre. "The chamber will continue to work with the Council and other organisations to investigate traffic issues in the city to work to help secure a free-flowing road network." |
