From businesswoman to Bollywood, one of Sheffield’s top business start up experts turned to local ethnic companies to prepare for the city’s showcase Indian awards night.

Sheffield Enterprise Agency (SENTA) director Sandra Edwards visited Karachi clothing and Illusionz nail and beauty studio on Attercliffe Road in preparation for the Whirlow Hall Trust Bollywood Ball at Cutlers Hall. She was joined by SENTA colleague Julie Anne Haworth.

Now Illusionz have reported a big sales boost following on from the success of the charity ball, organised as part of Sheffield's efforts to mark the International Indian Film Academy awards held in the city this month.

Illusionz have been established in Sheffield for more than eight years. They recently became members of the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Business Forum, supported by Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and are another example of Sheffield's thriving ethnic fashion scene.

Vinisha Ali, who runs Illusions, said: "The Whirlow Hall Bollywood Ball was a great way to showcase our business to people who would not normally think to come to us for their hair and make up. We were really busy in the days and hours leading up to the ball and are proud to have had been involved in this important event for the city.

Sandra said: "Illusionz is a shining example of the diversity and resourcefulness on show in the city. Cities that are diverse are dynamic and this is a terrific strength which Sheffield should be proud of."
