| 2005 saw the Black and Minority Ethnic Business Forum, chaired by Hakim Wais, go public and outline their achievements. Official launch guests, who included City Council chief executive Sir Robert Kerslake and BME Entrepreneur Wade Lyn, heard of plans for the recruitment of a dedicated BME co-ordinator to support the future development of the Forum and BME business. Speaking at the launch Zahid Hamid, Chief Executive of the Black Community Forum - backers along with Business Link South Yorkshire - said: "Sheffield is the fourth largest urban area in England and up until now had no ethnic community business group. It is time for an initiative like this to be taken." |
