The third annual Sheffield Business Week will return in October - aiming to inform, update and develop the city business region.

The major five-day business event packed full of seminars, open days and workshops was launched by Sheffield Chamber in 2005 and has continued to grow into a key diary date on the Chamber’s events calendar.

Offering support to organisations of all shapes, sizes and sectors, Business Week 2007 will run from October 8th to the 12th at venues across the city. The informative business marathon will be open to Sheffield Chamber members and non-members alike and will be supported by headline sponsor Galaxy Yorkshire.

Sessions will cover a spectrum of topical and relevant businesses issues, from a Keeble Hawson Solicitors-run session on intellectual property and an HM Revenue and Customs’ VAT seminar at the start of Business Week to guidance on overseas markets in Asia and Europe on the event’s final day.

In between, delegates will be invited to ‘Maximise their Profitability’ at a masterclass at The Quadrant, can look forward to an ‘Out of Business experience’ when sponsors Galaxy Yorkshire reveal their marketing success secrets and prepare to tackle sustainable development issues at Envirofutures’ ‘Planet South Yorkshire’ seminar.

The events are aimed at all levels of business. Budding entrepreneurs can attend a Business Start-up seminar run by the Chamber’s enterprise agency SENTA and Barclays Bank, while bosses will be well briefed on employment law rules and regulations thanks to seminars led by ACAS and Irwin Mitchell Solicitors. And there will also be a chance for businesses to network and relax at a Chamber members’ evening at one of Britain’s best loved historic houses and estates, Chatsworth House, in Derbyshire.

Other workshops and opportunities will include:

  • Sheffield Hallam University - ‘Maximising the Education Links and Resources Available to Business’
  • Red Cherry – ‘Improving Internal Communications’ Learning Light – ‘Human Capital Management’
  • Envirowise – ‘How to Clean Up your Business’
  • Inova Consultancy – ‘Mentoring Circles for Female Entrepreneurs’
  • Czech Invest – ‘Doing Business with the Czech Republic’

Chamber events and marketing manager Vernon Tolson said: “Organising and hosting Sheffield Business Week demonstrates our ongoing commitment to supporting businesses, whatever their size.

“There are some exciting new opportunities in the 2007 Business Week including a new Virtual Enterprise Network Event and ‘The Ultimate Chinese Takeaway’ where Resounding Business Solutions will offer delegates the know-how to get to grips with cultural differences and build strong relationships in China.

“We want to ensure that Business Week returns each new year with old favourites that have become staples of the calendar – such as masterclasses and export advice. But equally we need to cater to new areas of the business world, too.”
