Weldricks’ pharmacist Will Swain came away with the prestigious Young Pharmacist Award at the national Pharmacy Business Awards 2007 that were held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on Monday 24th September. The award was “for a pharmacist qualified in the past five years who has achieved success from an innovative approach to professional services and patient care”

Will is the Pharmacist at the Weldricks’ branch on Sandringham Road in Intake, Doncaster and is a particular success story for the Company because he first worked with Weldricks aged 16 as a Saturday Assistant and ultimately qualified to become Branch Pharmacist. He started with Weldricks at our pharmacy in Epworth in 1999 and was sponsored by Weldricks through his four-year pharmacy degree course at Manchester University. He did his Pre-registration year with us in 2004 – 05, going on to his present position in December 2005.

Will has embraced the new patient services required in the new contract agreed between pharmacy and the Department of Health from the onset, and has enthusiastically shared his experience as an advocate by providing a supportive role to other pharmacists and staff. He also has a special interest in the provision of services to the deaf, as his pharmacy is located close to Doncaster School for the Deaf and the Yorkshire College for the Deaf
