Sheffield’s skyline has changed dramatically in the last 150 years and now everyone can buy their very own piece of city architecture.
A limited edition set of the ‘Our150th’ official Monopoly Sheffield board game is now on sale from the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce. All the sets are marked with the our150th brand with each individually numbered, including a letter of authenticity from the Chamber. Additional details about the our150th anniversary are also included in the rule book. The special our150th edition forms part of the double anniversary of the Chamber and the world’s first football club, Sheffield FC, in 2007. Nigel Tomlinson, Chamber Chief Executive, was at the launch and said: “Monopoly Sheffield brings together the city’s innovation and development of new properties with the heritage of Sheffield’s great history. “Following the success of the Trump cards last year, it is fantastic to have an Our150th version of the board game created to mark this special year and available to buy at the same price as the standard game. “It is also pleasing that so many companies have given their support to the board game with their sponsorship.” Sheffield City Hall landed the leading ‘Mayfair’ square - priced at £400, while the second most valuable spot on the board is occupied by Meadowhall Shopping Centre. Key landmarks in the city have been included following support of local businesses in Sheffield. The new St Paul’s Place is sponsored by residents DLA Piper and Westfield Health sponsor Division Street where their offices are located. The standard Sheffield Monopoly board game went on sale in September, selling 7,000 copies on the first day alone. Monopoly Sheffield creator, Mark Marriott, says: “The reaction we have had from businesses and local people since the game hit the shelves has been phenomenal.” To order call 0114 201 8933 for more details, or go to www.scci.org.uk/chamberstore
