Changes in legislation likely to impact on businesses will be sent direct to Sheffield Chamber of Commerce members thanks to a new initiative launched this month (MARCH).

The Chamber is to provide its members with a Quarterly Legislation Update outlining details of changes to legislation and regulations as well as consultations on proposed changes - all in a handy newsletter.

Chamber policy and representation manager Helen Rana said: “The Chamber’s USP is the credibility it enjoys within the local business community and its recognition as an objective information source.  We also have strong links with the relevant government departments.

“Members have told us that it can be very difficult to keep abreast of changes to their legal responsibilities as employers, and would appreciate receiving regular, comprehensive updates.

“We hope this initiative will prove a valued and useful resource for our members.”

The Quarterly Legislation Update (QLU) will be sponsored by Irwin Mitchell, who will also provide an introductory article to each issue.

Nick Bates, Irwin Mitchell partner and head of Commercial Litigation (North), said: " As Patrons of the Chamber, we are fully committed to supporting local businesses and we hope that the update will provide some useful information and allow members to keep abreast of the most important legislative developments affecting the business world.

“These developments are extremely wide-ranging, covering several different areas of law and, at the moment, are contributing to a period of change which will have a significant impact upon the ways in which businesses operate.

“It has never been more important for businesses to keep up to date and, when necessary, obtain good quality legal advice."

Each A4 sized, full-colour QLU will be around six to eight pages and contain articles organised by subject matter. The QLU will be produced by Helen Rana and the Chamber’s design team and will be emailed to members as a PDF file for easy reference. Some hard copies will also be distributed at key Chamber and city business events.

For more information on the QLU or on how to become a Chamber Member contact the Chamber on 0114 201 8888.
