About the event:
The South Yorkshire Green Business Club has a history of signposting businesses in South Yorkshire to new initiatives and business opportunties. Over the past few years there has been an effort to reduce the duplication and repetition of these support networks whilst moving towards utilising existing networks and resources. This is no more relevant when exploring research, development and knowledge sharing to efficiently develop and realise the business opportunties surrounding the environmental agenda. We would therefore like to use our February breakfast meeting to highlight new opportunties delivered by the University of Sheffield.
The University of Sheffield recently secured £5.7M from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for a Knowledge Transfer Account (KTA). The purpose of the KTA is to maximise the impact from the University’s EPSRC research portfolio to deliver economic and societal benefit to the UK. We are now looking to use this funding to bring about a step change in the way we work with industry to develop innovative products and processes. The talk will give an outline of our plans for the KTA and the opportunities available to support the early stage translation of research.
Dr. Neil Lowrie will also introduce the University of Sheffield Doctoral Training Centre for Energy Research, E-Futures. E-Futures offer a chance for industry to collaborate with academics in the field of energy research by proposing or sponsoring mini-projects and PhD projects.
We hope you can join us and take advantage of these new opportunties.
