Policy and representation
Our policy and representation activities have been the cornerstone of Chamber activities for 150 years. Our representational legacy has allowed the Chamber to influence decisions on a wide variety of subjects, including transport, regeneration, regional development, sectoral issues and inward investment.
It’s our objective to ensure that your voice – whatever the size of your business – is heard when city councils and government agencies are formulating policy or consulting the business community.
All businesses are subject to changes in government policies over which they have no control. Our activity ensures Sheffield businesses are represented in policy decisions at all levels of government. All policy arguments are developed through engagement with members. We do this work so you do not have to.

Our Board and Council
The Chamber Board and Council are made up of elected members from the regions leading businesses. They act as the main forum for Chamber members to bring forward business issues, debate their impact and agree the necessary actions. The Chamber uses its nominations committee to help source and identify suitable individuals with which to make recommendations to the Board and/or Council regarding appointments.
