Jumpers for goalposts - Turn up and Play Sessions
Sheffield & Hallamshire FA are going out and about into the parks and green spaces to co-ordinate football games and skills coaching for boys and girls aged between 8 and 16 years-old.
FA qualified coaches will be at seven venues organising free football for anyone who wants to join in. Sessions take place this Saturday (3rd July) starting at 11am and finishing at 2pm, participants can turn up at any time and take part, they will be sure of a warm welcome.
Chris Bly, Senior Football Development Officer at Sheffield & Hallamshire FA said "We are keen to build on the interest in football that has been created by the World Cup, by getting young people active and playing together. Whether it is a novice or advanced player we want to re-ignite the ‘jumpers for goalposts' principle whereby kids turn up in there local park and play the game they love".
Participation in the sessions is free due to a partnership with South Yorkshire Police's Youth Engagement Unit. Sessions are being run on Saturday 3rd July, 11am-2pm and are for youngsters aged between 8 and 18 years old at the following venues:
Burngreave: Abbeyfield Park off Abbeyfield Road, Sheffield
