Be Creative, be inspired with digital industry workshop
Sheffield's diverse and growing creative, digital and new media sectors are being celebrated through a series of events in the city.
‘@BLYorks,' organised by Business Link Yorkshire, in association with the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and CreativeSheffield, will stage a number of free workshops designed to support and inspire the region's creative and digital industries.
As part of the Sheffield Business Festival in September, @BLYorks - which is the Twitter domain name for Business Link Yorkshire - will showcase how this region is recognised as one of the leading centres of creativity and digital specialism in the country.
Speakers at the workshops include Ian Livingstone OBE on September 20, between 4:30pm-6:30pm, at the Electric Works. Ian is an entrepreneur, fantasy author and a leading pioneer of interactive entertainment.
He founded the Games Workshop retail chain, devised the series of Fighting Fantasy interactive gamebooks and one of the leading players behind best selling games such as 'Tomb Raider' and 'Hitman'.
On September 23 at the Forum, Kathryn Rayward tells her story as one of the UK's hottest interior designers. Kathryn moved into television while running a thriving interior design business with offices in Cheltenham, Brighton and the South of France. Her company continues to grow commissioned by both private domestic residences and the corporate world.
While ‘Be inspired with Mark Jones' takes place on September 29 at the Showroom and Workstation. With fifteen-plus years in spotting new sounds, Mark is the founding father of Wall of Sound records.
The label has brought names such as Röyksopp, Propellerheads, The Bees and Infadels to the world music stage, including Sheffield's very own The Human League and Reverend and the Makers.
Mark's presentation and Q&A will be followed by an opportunity to network with guests over a light buffet and refreshments.
