Making your voice heard
Our policy and representation activities have been the cornerstone of Chamber activities for 150 years. Our representational legacy has allowed the Chamber to influence decisions on a wide variety of subjects, including transport, regeneration, regional development, sectoral issues and inward investment.
All companies and businesses are subject to business influences over which they have no control - for example, red tape, business taxation and international barriers to trade.
Making your voice heard
It's our objective to ensure that your voice - whatever the size of your business - is heard when city councils and government agencies are formulating policy or consulting the business community.
Sheffield Chamber of Commerce has always owed its strength to the size and diversity of its membership. We represent 2,600 businesses based in and around the Sheffield City Region. Our members include all sectors of business, such as retail, financial services, construction, utilities, professional firms, manufacturers, IT, digital, creative and communications, management, consultancy, transport operators and tourism.
We speak for all sizes of business, from start-up companies to large organisations;
approximately 85% of our members are SMEs. A great number of our members now
operate in the international marketplace.
150 years' experience
Our success is based on 150 years of experience and expertise, and we are the only
organisation in the city with the resources and expertise to cover such a vast range of business policy issues. We have access where it counts: Town Hall, Regional Development Agencies, Central Government and the EU in Brussels and, now, even the United Nations.
If there is a business matter of particular concern or interest to you, then contact the Chamber - we can help. Members can use our services to pass on their comments and concerns.
Using the Chamber will enable you to:
- Access a wide range of contacts
- Influence local and national government
- Give your business a competitive advantage by knowing what is happening within the region and beyond
- Add weight and influence to your comments
"I sat next to a SCCI representative at a Women in Business lunch. She highlighted a number of areas where we could use the membership more effectively. I was most impressed by here attitude and ideas".
