University of Sheffield

Why do you value being a Chamber council member? The prosperity of our city is something the University cares passionately about and one in which it takes an active role through its regional engagement activities with partners.  Together, we’re diligently working towards making the city healthier, greener, more innovative, and culturally vibrant for all.  Being part of the Chamber Council facilitates conversations and introductions to our city’s business community which is invaluable.

What’s the most important thing you bring to the Council, to benefit Chamber members?

I bring over a decade of experience in international trade within the manufacturing sector and I’m committed to driving regional enterprise support initiatives, empowering both entrepreneurs and established businesses to thrive and innovate. I'm responsible for the development and delivery of the University's Made Together programme: a major South Yorkshire regeneration initiative. Additionally, I lead the University's Entrepreneurship service, aiming to seamlessly integrate university start-ups into the regional start-up ecosystem and foster cluster growth.

Why is Sheffield the best UK city to live, work and play?

What can I say! Sheffield boasts the largest theatre complex outside of London, and in just 10 minutes, you can find yourself in the stunning Peak District (where I live), yet still have access to a thriving city life (so I get the best of both worlds). Sheffield is also the home of Hendos (which I love!) and my favourite fact (and tipple!) is that Sheffield is the real ale capital of the world. What’s not to like?
