MD Club: The Importance of Wellbeing in the Workplace

Date: 9 Jul 2019

Time: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

There is evidence of the link between good health and enhanced quality of life and work productivity. Indeed, lifestyle changes that result from an effective workforce health programme can equate to at least a 400% return on investment for employers.

The Sheffield Universities Managing Directors’ Club is pleased to deliver its next event with the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (NCSEM), a flagship Olympic Legacy project that brings together partners from across the region including the two universities.

Come and hear about projects such as Move More and the successes and plans of the NCSEM, and learn how businesses across the city can engage and benefit from the commercial and staff wellbeing opportunities. The development of the Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre is also a major project building on the legacy of the NCSEM.

Meet colleagues from the Healthy Lifespan Institute at the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre who are working with NCSEM to establish a sustainable ecosystem of organisations to extend the healthy lifespan of those over 50, by promoting physical activity, healthy nutrition and social connectedness through joint innovation with business.

Richard Wright (Director – Policy and Representation Sheffield Chamber of Commerce) will be providing an overview of the NCSEM and its activities

David Capper, CEO Westfield Health will be discussing Active Work and other programmes that are available for businesses

Professor Fabio Ciravegna, The University of Sheffield will be speaking on the Active 10 app

Hear from our informative guest speakers, enjoy some food and drink and stay for the networking.
