Following the huge success of last years annual pensions conference, South Yorkshire Pensions Group are delighted to announce that the event will be returning to the world-renowned AMP Technology Centre on Wednesday 2nd October 2019.
The event aims to share knowledge, provide informed and relevant seminars to trustees, companies and professionals in relation to corporate pensions, and to encourage networking among them.
Guests will hear from Andy Morley, Senior Deal Manager at Aviva DB Solutions and Agneta Briedyte, Investment Strategist at Aviva Investors, who will discuss how pension schemes can implement de-risking strategies blending both, investment and insurance techniques when targeting an endgame strategy. In particular, considering how an integrated risk management framework that takes into account investment, longevity and covenant risks could be implemented in practice.

Executive Director of Regulatory Policy, Analysis and Advice at the Pensions Regulator
David is responsible for development of policy for TPR and has oversight of TPR’s professional advisers including lawyers, actuaries, investment advisers and business analysts. David is a former Chairman of the Association of Consulting Actuaries and Director of the Association of Consulting Actuaries Limited, a former Council member of the International Actuarial Association, and inaugural Chairman of the Joint Industry Forum for Workplace Pensions. He was also a Council member of the Society of Pension Consultants and is immediate past Chairman of the Actuaries Club. David was a Senior Partner in the Pensions practice at KPMG where he advised on the design, implementation, management and communication of pensions and employee benefit arrangements. Immediately prior to joining TPR, David developed and lead the Trustee Board Effectiveness service provided by KPMG and in collaboration with the Pensions and Lifetime Savings Association. He has previously worked with DWP and HM Treasury on pensions and pension taxation policy. David is a Governor of the Pensions Policy Institute.
Agent at the Bank of England
Juliette is the Bank of England’s senior representative in the region. Her role is to give policy makers an up to date view of prospects for the UK economy. Juliette talks to business leaders from a wide range of firms covering all sectors of the economy across Yorkshire and Humber. Her view, along with that of her colleagues across the UK, is an important input into both monetary and financial stability deliberations at the Bank of England. As the Bank’s Agent, Juliette provides a bridge between theoretical economics and the real economy. Juliette became the Agent for Yorkshire and Humber at the beginning of 2012. She’s had a varied career, much of it at the Bank. Juliette’s roles have covered the housing market, monetary policy, foreign exchange and money markets, financial stability issues, press and parliamentary affairs and technical assistance to overseas central banks. Two secondments included HM Treasury and the International Monetary Fund, Washington DC.
Senior Deal Manager, Aviva DB Solutions
Andy liaises with key external accounts to facilitate and manage underwritten bulk annuity transactions at Aviva. Andy has more than 20 years’ experience of defined benefit pensions, including 10 years working in de-risking and external relationship management. He’s worked on deals of all types and sizes, including pension schemes for FTSE-100 companies.
Investment Strategist, Aviva Investors
Agneta is responsible for building outcome-oriented investment strategies for institutional clients across all areas of solutions design, management and client delivery. In particular, she focusses on liability driven investment (LDI) and alternative income solutions. Prior to joining Aviva Investors, Agneta worked at Mercer as a Strategic Solutions Group analyst, and at Capita Employee Solutions where she worked as investment analyst.
Dalriada Trustees Ltd
Jo is an experienced, commercial, pensions professional from a covenant advisory background, now deploying his skills as a professional trustee at Dalriada. Jo joined Dalriada to establish the Yorkshire office in 2017, coming from a senior employer covenant and deals advisory role at a big four accountancy firm. He has substantial experience helping trustees and companies navigate triennial valuations, healthy mergers and acquisitions, and financially stressed situations – always with consideration of the impact on members’ benefits. In his former role as an advisor, Jo has also been responsible for assessing ongoing employer covenant and forming views on the affordability of contributions in the context of routine triennial valuations as well as structural corporate changes. His trusteeship experience includes working with schemes ranging from £5m to £1bn of assets, and a wide variety of sponsoring employers (family owned SMEs through to large private equity backed and plc businesses).

About the South Yorkshire Pensions Group
The South Yorkshire Pensions Group was formed in 2015 by professionals and others who have an interest and involvement with corporate pension arrangements in South Yorkshire/Sheffield City Region. It promotes seminars and social events in conjunction with the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Group’s objectives are to share knowledge and best practice, provide informed and relevant seminars to trustees, companies and professionals in relation to corporate pensions and to encourage networking among them. The group promotes several seminars each year and has hosted several prominent speakers from the pension industry including Sir Steve Webb the former pensions minister and speakers from organisations such as the Bank of England.
