Description

1 in 2 people will be affected by cancer in their lifetime. By creating a culture of wellbeing and flexibility, employers can ensure that they retain key staff and provide assistance to those who need it most. A culture of openness can assist employees in seeking early support but also provide managers with a toolkit for engaging in these difficult conversations.

Who should attend?

What will the seminar deliver?

Cavendish Cancer Care will provide a comprehensive overview of their services, facts and figures and how these can be used to support those with cancer or those who provide care services to their family or friends. A team from Cavendish Cancer Care will provide guidance on how managers can engage in ‘Cancer Conversations’. Cavendish have a unique insight into how HR professionals can perform these often difficult discussions. After working with the therapists and management team of Cavendish Cancer Care they has developed a bespoke toolkit to assist managers in providing help and support.

Freeths LLP will provide a detailed guide on how a business can promote a culture of wellbeing and openness through flexible working policies and modern / adaptive practices. The key focus on this part of the seminar will be how businesses can retain key staff, empower their workforce and work with employees to balance the needs of all involved.

Their mission statement is below:

Cavendish Cancer Care is a local Sheffield charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with cancer in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. We believe no one should face cancer alone, so we provide emotional support through counselling and complementary therapies to the patient, their carer and their children. Our services are provided free of charge and we rely on the donations from supporters and help from volunteers to continue our work. We provide the support that local families deserve.

Our aim with this seminar is to fund at least one course of therapy for a patient or carer affected by cancer. We are looking for a donation of £10.00 per attendee and shooting for a target of £360.00. Please pay your attendance donation via the Just Giving page – Workplace Culture & Wellbeing Seminar.
