Knowledge Skills Exchange – Strengthening Support for NEETs Across South Yorkshire
Hosted By Sheffield Chamber of Commerce
As part of our ongoing commitment to building a stronger, more joined-up regional skills system – and as a direct outcome of the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) – the three South Yorkshire Chambers are hosting a series of bi-monthly Knowledge Skills Exchanges. We’d be delighted to have you join us for the next session.
These sessions are designed exclusively for skills advisors, employability practitioners and those supporting individuals into education, training and work. They create a space for us to come together, share insight, compare approaches and build a consistent understanding of the support available across South Yorkshire.
Over time, attendees build a rich “skills bible” – a clear, practical overview of regional provision – ensuring that everyone is giving the same messages, making accurate referrals, and helping people access the right opportunities.
This session: NEETs and those furthest from the job market
Our next Knowledge Skills Exchange will focus on young people who are NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), as well as adults who face the greatest barriers to entering or re-entering work.
Together, we will explore:
- the range of programmes currently supporting NEETs across South Yorkshire
- what effective engagement, outreach and progression look like
- the barriers individuals face — and examples of how they can be reduced
- how skills advisors can better signpost, align messaging and provide coordinated support
- shared approaches that help individuals move closer to sustainable employment
This is a chance for us to ensure everyone advising individuals across the region is well informed, consistent, connected and confident in the options available.
