The Chambers’ Employer Insights reports draw on interviews with SMEs and anchor employers to understand the realities of recruiting, retaining, and developing talent. This final edition focuses on Veterans – exploring employer perceptions, common barriers to recruitment, and the untapped potential veterans offer the regional workforce. We’ll share key findings, highlight examples of good practice, and discuss how the South Yorkshire business community can better connect veterans’ skills with employer needs.

Mac McPherson – Deputy Lieutenant of South Yorkshire and recent High Sheriff, Mac is President of the Royal British Legion South & West Yorkshire. A respected advocate for veterans, he works closely with businesses and community organisations to support veteran employment and raise awareness of the unique skills and contributions veterans bring to the workforce.

Nigel Palmer – Managing Director of SCC Air Compressors UK Ltd, Nigel is a passionate supporter of veteran employment, championing initiatives that connect ex-forces personnel with rewarding careers in industry. He actively promotes the value of military skills in business and is committed to creating opportunities for veterans to thrive in civilian life
