Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, this years South Yorkshire Pensions Group Annual Conference will be delivered in an online format using the webinar platform Zoom.
Taking place on Thursday 15th October 2020, the conference aims to provide professionals from the pensions industry, trustees, and those involved with pensions within companies, a platform to share best practice, receive updates on changes to pensions regulations and offer networking opportunities for like-minded professionals.
The over-riding theme for this years conference is ESG (Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance).
Attendees of the conference will get the chance to listen to high-profile speakers covering a range of informative topics with networking sessions in-between talks. There will also be an opportunity to pose your questions to the speakers during Q&A sessions.
Margaret Snowdon OBE
Among her many voluntary roles within the pensions industry, Margaret is Chair of the Pension Scams Industry Group, which has saved countless £ millions from falling into the hands of scammers. She is also the first Honorary President of the Pensions Administration Standards Association. In this session, Margaret will cover the latest developments across a number of topics including scams, fraud, transfers, advice and guidance.
Guy Ellison is an equity analyst who has worked for Investec for 18 of his 20 years in the City. He heads up Investec’s UK Equity Research Team and is Chairman of the Equity Corporate Governance Committee. During his session, Guy will discuss the increasingly prominent role that ESG plays in investment markets and will touch upon some of the ESG considerations for pension scheme trustees and sponsors.
Amanda Latham is the Policy and Strategy Lead at Barnett Waddingham and leads development of firm-wide policy and strategy on key industry issues. Previously, Amanda worked for The Pensions Regulator for nearly 9 years with a focus on governance and investment, leading policy on DB consolidation, collective defined contribution schemes, professional trustee standards and sustainable investment. Outside of work, Amanda co-founded the Young Pension Trustee Network, a group for young and aspiring trustees to share experiences and develop skills to promote a more inclusive and diverse industry. Amanda is also a charity trustee and is currently Vice Chair on the board of Age UK in West Sussex, Brighton & Hove. Amanda will be covering the growing importance of ESG, sustainability and governance in pension investment, where things are now and what’s on the horizon.
Leanne Clements joined the Association for Member Nominated Trustees as Campaign Manager for Red Line Voting in March 2017. Leanne is responsible for supporting the adoption and implementation of Red Line Voting policies, by working with AMNT and its members, fund managers, policy makers as well as other important actors in the investment chain. Prior to this role, Leanne led the responsible investment strategies at three different UK pension schemes. Prior to that, she worked at a corporate governance and shareholder advisory consultancy, most notably conducting voting policy generation and executing voting instructions for UK pension schemes. Prior to her career in the UK, she worked in her native Canada as an environmental consultant for an engineering firm conducting contaminated site investigations for financial clients. Leanne will be providing practical advice on how to hold your fund managers to account for their stewardship approach, with a special focus on racial diversity.
