About Levelling up Futures in Sheffield (LUFI’s)

Funded by the Government’s UK Community Renewal Fund, LUFI's aim is to support people and communities most in need across the UK by creating opportunities to trial innovative ideas and new approaches at the local level.

The partnership between Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield Business Together, Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Sheffield City Council, brings together three existing Sheffield initiatives; GROW, the Community BiG Challenge and Social Mobility in Education.

The project team for LUFI’s, will work with Sheffield schools and colleges to understand their needs, and offer a coherent programme of support to 11 to 18-years-old. This innovative partnership will enable us to offer tailored support to those hardest hit by the pandemic and ensure they have the same opportunities and life chances as their peers. How can you help?

We strongly believe that a young person’s background shouldn’t determine their future. And employers have a vital role to play in raising the aspiration, attainment, and work readiness of our young people in Sheffield. Research shows that four or more employer encounters mean young people are 86% less likely to become NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training).

Our ask is for an employer like yourself, to join us, pledge your support and to help us deliver 8 opportunities to 17 schools and colleges by June 2022. Participation is free and you will be fully supported by the programme team.

To help, please complete this online form to pledge your support and tell us the areas where you can offer help. It is a 2-minute tick box exercise and will help us target and match opportunities from schools and colleges with the right employer.

Sheffield was not considered a priority area for this investment so the fact we were able to secure the funding is a massive achievement and speaks to the strength and potential of the programme.
