25 Years for Plant Hire Champion !

31st August 2017

The Directors of Plant & Tool Hire Specialists Champion Hire Ltd, congratulated Long-Serving Employee Chris Nicholls (42) on the occasion of him achieving 25 years loyal service with the company, marking the event with a bottle of Champagne and a cheque for £500.

Chris started work at Champion Hire's Chesterfield Depot as an Apprentice Fitter/Driver in August 1992 and was Champion's first employee to be put through Chesterfield College on their Day-Release scheme. He moved to Champion Hire's Nottingham Depot in Summer 1997 as Hire Controller. Chris was appointed Manager of the new Derby Depot in 2008 and in 2012 took over as Manager of the Sheffield Depot (Carbrook) at short notice, when a safe pair of hands was needed. "I've done all sorts of roles here" said Chris, "I can't believe how the years have just flown by, Champion is very much like a big family and there are quite a few of us who have been here for a long time". Chris, who is married to Michelle, has 2 teenage sons, Liam and Charlie and lives in Chesterfield. When not managing the Depot, he enjoys coaching children's football, and still finds time to enjoy a round of golf when he can get away !. Chairman Tim Hale commented "Chris is one of several key members staff who have been with us for many years - we couldn't provide the kind of excellent customer service that we do without people like him". Managing Director Keith White added "The last few years have been challenging for the construction sector and to be able to pull through we have relied a lot on our Depot Teams, under the leadership of good Depot Managers. Chris is a great example, illustrating our positive, family company 'can do' attitude.
