A Barn, Bands, Bales, Beer and BBQ

3rd July 2014

TWO Sheffield businesses are aiming to organise the biggest charitable music festival in Sheffield this summer.

Business turnaround specialist Wilson Field has teamed up with Sheffield AV specialist tdc and some of the city's best musicians to put on the Bands in the Barn event at Whirlow Hall Farm on Sunday August 3 from 4 - 11.45pm. The confirmed line up for the event features ex Human League member Russ Dennett and his band Junkyard Dog; family trio Absolute Beginners, James Lamb, Carnival and Vyndictive. Vyndictive are already busy practising Pink Floyd's Another Brick in the Wall and will have children from Stagecoach to sing the chorus with them. Organiser Hilary Dennis from Wilson Field said: "Our charity fundraiser is in aid of the Master Cutlers Challenge which has become one of the largest annual fundraising events in the region and we are looking at recreating a mini festival type event. "As a company Wilson Field is investing our time and money into this challenge. The line-up is guaranteed to get everyone rocking on the hay bales. "And the grand finale to the night will be one to remember with a combination of band members bringing the evening to a close with a selection of vintage rock and blues." Richard Groves from tdc, who provide professional sound and lighting for UK-wide shows and who will run the lighting, audio and stage on the night, said: -Our team take special pride in making every show a great spectacle, but we will be going the extra mile on this one to ensure no-one leaves without a smile on their face, especially the charities we are doing this for! The Master Cutler Challenge, sponsored by Sheffield Forgemasters International, encourages companies to turn £100 into as much money as they can for two chosen charities within six months. Since it first launched in 2008, the challenge has inspired companies, organisations, schools and individuals to raise in excess of half a million pounds for local causes. This year's two good causes are Whirlow Hall Farm Trust and Sheffield Hospitals Charity Jessop Wing neonatal intensive care and maternity hospital. Abbeydale Brewery will run the bar and Whirlow Farm will supply their famous BBQ. Tickets cost £20 each and are available from Hilary Dennis on 0114 2356780 or h.dennis-madin@wilsonfield.co.uk
