A Celebration of Female Entrepreneurship

We are delighted to be hosting this event at Sheffield University Management School in collaboration with the Inspiring Women network as part of the MADE Festival.
The evening will feature an exciting line-up of female entrepreneurs talking about their business creation journey; this will be followed by a panel question and answer session. In addition you will have an opportunity to see the University's Enactus team, who were recently crowned UK champions, present their amazing business, prior to them representing the UK in Beijing. Speaker profiles Lorely Burt, MP Lorely began her career in the Prison Service as an Assistant Governor at Holloway, before working in the field of personnel and training for prominent national companies including Beecham and Europcar . She later set up her own award-winning training company, worked as a director in the marketing and financial services sector, and moved into part-time consultancy work when she was selected as the prospective Liberal Democrat candidate for Solihull. Following her election, Lorely Burt became a Liberal Democrat spokeswoman on Northern Ireland and she also served on the influential Treasury Select Committee. After the election of Sir Menzies Campbell to the leadership of the party, she became the Liberal Democrat spokesperson on Small Business and Women and Equality. In 2007 Lorely consolidated her parliamentary work to concentrate on business as shadow minister for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform. In 2008 she was awarded the Federation of Small Business award for most 'business friendly' Member of Parliament, and in 2009 received the WeBenc International Luminary Award for services to women in business. Laila Pawlak, Founder & Chief Impact Officer, DARE2 Laila runs the award winning company DARE2, a World leading experience design agency and think tank for developing transformational customer experiences. DARE2 operates a unique network organization with more than 100 associated partners from around the world who are all frontrunners in their field of expertise. Along with her partner, Laila has carried out extensive research in unfolding what creates great experiences, how experiences can transform people and have Positive Impact on us as individuals. Through the years DARE2 have guided hundreds of companies and entrepreneurs on the journey of releasing and optimizing the full customer experience, and have inspired thousands through their workshops and key notes. In 2012 Kris and Laila opened DARE2mansion a 1300m2 Professional Playground in Copenhagen where entrepreneurs, businesses, and academia come together to create unique experiences. The same year they won the prestigious Experience Management Achievement Award from Pine & Gilmore as the first company ever outside of the USA. As an experienced conference speaker, workshop facilitator and advisor Laila is valued as an extremely visionary mentor in business development and on professional boards. She is a certified Experience Economy Expert, coach and LEGO Serious Play facilitator and has been recognized as one of the most talented business executives in Denmark by the leading national business magazine. Laila was nominated for Female Entrepreneur of the year in 2010. Therese Sopie Kindal, CEO and Co-Founder, Unleash Therese is an experienced and award-winning entrepreneur, and is the CEO and Co-Founder of Unleash, a disruptive innovator in the management education and consulting industry. She has spent the past 15 years working closely with executives and start-up teams, large companies and multi-national organisations as an entrepreneur, leader and management consultant. Therese has led and participated in cross-functional and multi-cultural teams in the UK, US, Asia and across Europe, running workshops and working with clients on a range of management issues, including: The Future of Organisations, Leadership Development, Global Working, Organisational Change, Co-Creation, Adaptive Strategy Execution, Living Brand, Complex Problem Solving, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Her work is particularly interested in looking into dispelling the functional, cultural and organisational boundaries that prevent groups of people from working effectively together and Therese she has recently co-authored Unleashing: The Future of Work. Cheryl Williams, Managing Director, The Yorkshire Wildlife Park Cheryl Williams is the joint Managing Director and one of the founders and owners of the UK's number one 'Walkthrough Wildlife Adventure', The Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The park was built on the site of Brockholes Farm Visitor Centre, which closed to the public in November 2008. Cheryl and Neville Williams (experienced zookeepers from Woburn Safari Park) and business partner John Minion purchased the site in 2008 with funding from Lloyds TSB Commercial, private investment, and a Yorkshire Forward grant. The site was renovated over the 20082009 winter, and officially opened on 4 April 2009. The Award Winning South Yorkshire business went from zero to 353,000 visitors in 4 years with a target of 400,000 for 2013.
