A Celebration of Sheffield Film - Gala Dinner 2017

With the Oscars around the corner, Showroom Cinema would like to invite you to join us for our very own evening of Hollywood glamour as we celebrate Sheffield's outstanding contribution to film.

Meet some of Sheffield's award-winning filmmakers (including makers of The Full Monty, This is England, and Arctic Monkeys music videos), enjoy cocktails on a arrival and a sumptuous 4 course meal prepared by our talented Head Chef. Joining us on the night with some interesting stories from his life in the film world is Danny Leigh (Co-Presenter of BBC1's Film 2010-16, Novelist and Filmwriter for The Guardian and Financial Times). There will also be a chance to win some fabulous film related prizes to help raise funds to support the Showroom Cinema and its range of activity which is very much at the heart of Sheffield's community. We do much more than just show films. Last year alone, we worked with over 140 schools across the region to provide unique educational events designed around their needs. We offer industry standard training to future film-makers, which is free to those who can't afford it opening the opportunity to all. This is only a tiny part of what we do; we are a registered charity and to keep on doing all this important work we need your help. 22 years after we first opened our doors, our unique 1930s building needs some love, so the aim of this evening is not only to celebrate the world renowned independent film industry in our city, but also to raise much needed funds to keep our cinema alive and well.
