A fundraising calendar with a difference!

19th November 2014

Lucinda White is a local female entrepreneur who has decided to make a pledge to raise £1000 for two charities close to her heart this Christmas - Ehlers Danlos Support UK (www.

ehlers-danlos.org) and Whirlow Hall Farm Trust in Sheffield (www.whirlowhallfarm.org). Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is a collection of inherited conditions that fit into a larger group known as heritable disorders of connective tissues. There are many types of EDS and Lucinda's partner Matt is a lifelong sufferer along with other members of his family. There is no cure, only pain management and they struggle with it every day managing joint hyper-mobility, stretchy skin and tissue fragility, lack of collagen, migraines and headaches, aching joints.the list goes on. Lucinda said, -Matt and I have two children and they are showing signs of EDS at their early ages of 4 and 6. I want to help this charity generate awareness and find more successful ways to manage the disorders for when our children need the help too. Whirlow Hall Farm Trust is a local charity which gives children from the most disadvantaged areas of Sheffield an opportunity to see the reality of a working farm and to learn about where our food really comes from. Lucinda continues, -I began my career as fundraising and events manager at Whirlow in 2001 and they continue to do some fantastic work with children, making a real difference to their lives. Lucinda runs Pure in Chesterfield, an award writing and training business for professional companies and entrepreneurs in Yorkshire and the Midlands who want to raise their profile and achieve success in business awards. Through her extensive network of business contacts, client base and friends, Lucinda is using her skills in writing awards and preparing award calendars for clients to raise the funds. For every award calendar booked Lucinda will make a donation of £50 to the fund. Not only will this initiative help businesses and other entrepreneurs prepare their award action plan for 2015 but it will be making a real difference to the charities. Lucinda says, -Our mission is to write winning award entries for outstanding professional service companies and entrepreneurs so they receive the recognition they deserve to build sustainable businesses for the future and deliver training to all business types and industry sectors on how to write better award entries, by passing on our knowledge and expertise so they have the confidence to put their product or service forward in local, regional and national awards. -Using our skills in preparing award calendars to generate funds for these two charities and their beneficiaries makes sense to me and I hope lots of businesses will engage with this fundraising initiative too.
