21st June 2013

Sheffield Technology Park and the Showroom Workstation have joined forces to appoint a joint Centre Manager.

Tom Wolfenden took up this new position on Monday 3rd June. Tom has a background in the creative industries after training at Sheffield Hallam University, but then decided on a career change and moved into property management. Most recently, he managed a multi-purpose industrial estate at Rotherham. Tom is now joint Centre Manager of both the Technology Park and the Workstation. This is a new position that will help to establish a growing partnership between both centres which has been evolving over the past year. Together, both centres support a network of creative and technology-led businesses that represent a hub of innovation in the heart of the city. The new partnership will help to create a joined-up offer drawing on the strengths of both centres and tenant communities. New Centre Manager Tom Wolfenden comments, -I am delighted to be offered this opportunity. I feel very strongly that as a combined operation, both centres are a fantastic asset to the city and offer great potential to play an important part in Sheffield's growing economy. Ian Wild, Chief Executive of the Showroom Workstation, said, -I am very pleased with Tom's appointment as Joint Centre Manager. It provides a new opportunity to build on the strengths of both organisations, develop better services for our clients and to consolidate our developing partnership. I am looking forward to working with Tom to build our collective impact on development of the creative and digital industries in Sheffield. David Kay, Strategic Director of specialist CDI sector business Sero Consulting and Chair of the Technology Park Board, added, -This development is a significant step forward for both centres and it's also good for Sheffield, creating an even better ladder of facilities for local businesses.
