Accountants figure in world tournament

30th October 2013

Two Sheffield chartered accountants swapped numbers on paper for those on football shirts when they played in an international 'World Cup' tournament.

Solicitor Services Manager Simon Bladen, aged 30, and Healthcare Sector Manager Scott Sanderson, 29, both from Sheffield-based firm Hawsons, of Glossop Road, travelled to Copenhagen for the event, organised by HLB International, a worldwide network of independent professional accounting firms, to which Hawsons belongs. It featured teams from Denmark, Germany, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Ireland, and two from the UK. Simon and Scott were in different HLB UK sides and Scott's battled its way to the final, only to be beaten by Germany. Scott said: -Playing on a world stage was an incredible experience for us, although I was a bit miffed that my side, having reached the final, couldn't quite make it all the way.
