African- Caribbean recruitment fair hosted by ADIRA

26th April 2024

Do you want to diversity your workforce and meet some amazing talent from the African-Caribbean community?

African- Caribbean recruitment fair hosted by ADIRA – 13th of July – 10.00 to 15.00 at SADACCA

Sheffield Business Together and Sheffield City Council are working with a Black mental health and wellbeing charity, ADIRA, to host their 3rd African Caribbean recruitment day on the 13th of July.

Building on the 2nd event, in March, which was attended by 515 African-Caribbean professionals and supported by a number of public, private and third sector employers. We  are seeking more employers for the July event as ADIRA are expecting circa 1000 attendees.

Hosting the event in the heart of the community, playing culturally appropriate music and recruiters taking a more informal approach helps to break down barriers facing the Black community in accessing jobs and feeling a sense of belonging.

To ensure the event is a success and candidates have a positive experience, the working group has outlined a few pre-requisites for employers to consider before they register.

Considerations for Employer Attendance:-

  1. You have 40 hours or if feasible 20 hours vacancies, we encourage you to consider the possibility of creating part-time opportunities for 20 hours. This can be especially beneficial for students in the community pursuing master’s degrees, as visa restrictions limit them to working 20 hours until their studies are complete.
  2. Your organisation is working towards creating an inclusive environment that can welcome and nurture black talent.
  3. If possible, you field colleagues who are Black or from other ethnically diverse backgrounds to attend the event.
  4. Support the hosting of the event by paying pay a service fee of £75 for the voluntary sector, £100 for the public sector and £300 for the private sector.

Offer to Employers

  1. Stall at the event and space for a roll up banner – 2 or more attendees.
  2. Your logo on the flyer as a sponsor
  3. Pre and Post event publicity
  4. Refreshments and food for attendees

How do I secure a stall?

To secure a space at the event please register here

There are 15 stalls available (8 private and 4 public and 3 voluntary sectors). If you are interested in taking part, please contact ADIRA before the 20th of May as flyers and publicity material will be sent after this date.
