Ambitious capital markets plan deserves business backing, says BCC

Commenting on the publication of a Green Paper on a Capital Markets Union by the European Commission, John Longworth, Director General of the British Chambers of Commerce, said: -Fast-growing companies, both in Britain and across Europe, are crying out for better access to finance.

Lord Hill's plan to re-wire Europe's capital markets so that they deliver more funding to businesses is an important and ambitious effort that deserves support from companies of all sizes. Swift follow-up action is now needed to open up new sources of working capital and patient investment capital.
