AME-3D Partners with TreeApp to make a dent in C02 Emissions.

29th May 2023

AME-3D has partnered with TreeApp to plant a tree for every order shipped in an attempt to reduce their C02 emissions and be more environmentally positive.

One of AME-3D's commitments at the start of the year was to see what changes they can make to reduce the impact that their business has on the environment.

In the 3D printing & manufacturing industry, the key is to drive machine and material providers to deliver cost-effective, energy efficient products. AME-3D understand that high energy usage is needed to run their machines, but they are committed to finding ways to give back to the planet in order to reduce their impact.

This is why they have partnered with TreeApp, a business committed to planting trees with the ability to see your carbon footprint and overall impact.

Rich Proctor, Managing Director of AME-3D, commented:

“Additive manufacturing has some real environmental benefits, the biggest one being material usage. With additive, you only use the material required to create the part (plus a little for support material in some applications). This means that we’re producing very little material waste compared to traditional, subtractive manufacturing methods.

"Along with this, we can adopt other benefits, such as light weighting parts, using material to add strength where it’s needed only, further reducing material usage. The downside of additive manufacturing comes from the energy required to create the parts.

"This is why we’re taking steps towards trying to counteract our CO2 emissions through the tree planting initiative with TreeApp.

"The trees planted today will go on to capture carbon and generate oxygen for years into the future. It doesn’t fix the problem, but it is a positive step and the more of them we take the better.”

AME-3D looks forward to a long partnership with TreeApp and being able to see their impact as well as working to implement more initiatives that will give back to the environment.
