Title Mechanical Design Engineer Founded in 1996 AME are an experienced Product Design and Prototyping consultancy based in Sheffield with an impressive track record in developing new products and revitalising existing ones.

Our client base includes a number of blue chip companies working across a wide range of industry sectors. We are on the lookout for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. With at least 5+ years' experience you will have a strong engineering background and professional qualifications in an engineering discipline. You will possess a good understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes (particularly in plastics) with the ability to translate a client's brief into a realistic design solution. Experience of bringing products to market and managing the process is of high importance. Working across a range of industry sectors you will be involved in the transfer of concept to manufacture, working alongside our internal design and prototyping teams, and external partners. You should therefore have great communication skills and the ability to communicate your ideas. Being proficient in SolidWorks is essential with CAD surfacing skills being advantageous. The right candidate will need to be enthusiastic, proactive, confident and able to work as part of a team or independently on projects. You must be able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines. Confident presentation skills to both internal and external parties and an ability to manage client relationships is also of importance. Submit your CV and salary expectations to: tim.stern@ame-group.co.uk Requirements/Responsibilities Mechanical Design Engineers with 5+ years' experience A strong engineering background with professional qualifications in an engineering discipline Experience and understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes, particularly in plastics Strong knowledge of injection moulding & mould tool manufacture Essential to have proven CAD skills in SolidWorks. Ability to translate 2D to 3D CAD surfacing skills advantageous but not essential Ability to design for manufacture including generation of full manufacturing drawing sets Good communication skills (visual, verbal and written) with the ability to easily convey ideas as well as ability to present to clients and colleagues at all levels Able to liaise with other designers, engineers, suppliers and clients Ability to project manage taking projects from concept to completion Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Flexibility to work on a wide range of projects and to work on a number of projects simultaneously Able to motivate others and share best practise through effective interpersonal skills Self-motivated Work as part of a team or alone Knowledgeable and passionate about design
