Are Businesses in Sheffield City Region Prepared for Brexit?

High profile business survey questions local businesses on Brexit to discover if the region is prepared.

Brexit will mark the most profound political changes seen in generations and on the 29th March 2019, Britain will leave the European Union. Businesses are going to be affected as a result, but are the businesses in the Sheffield city region prepared? This is just one of the questions being asked in a high-profile quarterly survey. The Quarterly Economic Review also questions businesses on how they are performing in areas like sales, orders, cash, skills and labour supply and international trade. Richard Wright, Director of Policy and Representation, at Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, said: -We now have several years of data which is allowing the region to build up a longer term view of what is happening. As a region we are showing some very positive signs despite a difficult and uncertain trading climate. I would urge every business to complete the survey. The information is invaluable in helping the LEP and ourselves, the Chambers, to tailor the support that is most needed. Hundreds of Sheffield City Region businesses will take part in the survey and their feedback will be used to help shape regional and national policy and support for the local business community. The Quarterly Economic Review is run by the Sheffield City Region's four Chambers of Commerce with the backing of the Local Enterprise Partnership and Growth Hub and Sheffield University Management School. It is part of the UK's biggest business survey run through the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) network and polls around 10k businesses each quarter to monitor business trends. The nationally combined results are used by the BCC to inform Governmental policy-makers and by the Bank of England and Treasury when making monetary policies and setting rates. The survey is open until 27th November and can be used by CEOs or senior managers to do a quick sense check on how their business is faring.
