Are you an SME in South Yorkshire? Get up to £5,000 towards your next digital project!

13th October 2021

Did you know that digital-first companies are 64 more likely to achieve their sales and growth targets?

Enterprising Barnsley has launched a new scheme to help small and medium enterprises in South Yorkshire develop their use of technology. The grant will allow businesses to access new markets, become more competitive, promote their products and services, and create more productive ways of working.

The Digital Innovation Grant Programme is an ERDF funded project, and Barnsley MBC is the accountable body. The project receives up to £1.63m of funding from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020 (with funding available until 2023).

Grant funding will be available for up to 50 of the value of an investment, with a maximum award of £5,000. The second round of the Digital Innovation Grant applications will open on Monday 1st of November 2021.

What projects can the scheme aid?

SMEs can use the scheme for any projects that do the following: a new digital project that enables or accelerates the development of ‘new to the firm' products or services, gives access to new markets or helps to safeguard or create jobs.

An example of this could be a transportation business investing in a new innovative technology for its vehicles, which provides real-time intelligence on the location of delivery vehicles for clients and more accurate information about delivery timescales.

The grant could go towards a new e-commerce website for a traditional bricks-and-mortar only shop. A new e-commerce website allows the business to reach new markets and potentially increase business profits.
