Assay Office Launches Valuation Service

30th November 2011

Sheffield's 238-year-old hallmarking office is to launch a professional branded valuation service which will offer valuations on jewellery, watches and silverware.

With a same-day service available on their Valuation Days, they can also offer a drop-off service, on-site visits at various locations and a quick turnaround on postal valuations. The Sheffield Assay Office, one of only four remaining assay offices in the UK, has collaborated with the Guild of Valuers & Jewellers to offer Valuation Days which will take place both at the Assay Office and jewellers' premises. Ashley Carson, the Assay Master at Sheffield, said: -We are delighted to be working with the leading valuation and registration specialist in the country. By adding the Guild's experience and valuing expertise to our established service offering, we are able to enhance our services for customers and rapidly respond to their needs. -The recent sharp rise in the price of precious metals has meant that an item which was valued at £6,000 a couple of years ago may be worth closer to £10,000 today in turn meaning that the item may well be under-insured. -With the rise in cost of precious metals customers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance of having their valuables properly appraised, documented and protected. We'd encourage anyone to take the opportunity to have their items valued. The first Valuation Day will take place at Sheffield Assay Office on 1st December 2011.  Prices are dependent on the total value of all items contained in the valuation. For further information on our services and prices or to book a valuation appointment please call 0114 231 2121 or email valuations@assayoffice.co.uk.
