Barnsley College shortlisted for three prestigious TES FE Awards 2021

30th April 2021

Barnsley College has scooped nominations for three TES Awards.

Nominations received by the College include the prestigious FE College of the Year Award, which acknowledges excellence across all departments for the academic year 2019-2020.

Staff were also recognised for their innovative approach to teaching for students resitting their Maths and English GCSE with a nomination for the ‘Outstanding GCSE resits provision’ Award, as well as their dedication to student care and support with a nomination in the ‘Support for Learners’ category.

The TES Awards is an annual ceremony that aims to celebrate the most outstanding individuals and institutions that the further education sector has to offer.

Yiannis Koursis, Principal and Chief Executive, at Barnsley College, said: “It’s such an honour for us to be shortlisted for three TES Awards, including FE College of the Year. This year has been so hard for every organisation in our sector and to have the extraordinary work that Barnsley College staff have continued to do recognised in this way is a welcome ‘shot in the arm’- alongside the Covid vaccines!

“We wish the other shortlisted organisations congratulations and good luck! We now look forward to the Awards ceremony - we may not be physically present- but our hearts will be there and our fingers are crossed.”

TES Head of FE Julia Belgutay also said: “Further education providers have excelled in what has been a truly challenging year, and the amazing individuals, teams and institutions on our TES FE Awards shortlist showcase that. Our judges were highly impressed with the calibre of entries and I want to congratulate everyone who has made the shortlist – it is a brilliant achievement.”

After a very successful online awards ceremony last year, the TES Awards ceremony is once again being held virtually. Winners will be announced on Friday 28 May 2021.
