Basilisk Data Ltd Supporting Yorkshire Rugby

7th December 2012

Basilisk Data are pleased to announce that they are supporting Yorkshire RFU by presenting the 'Basilisk Data Ball' which will be given to the winner of the annual game between Yorkshire B vs Lancashire President's XV at U15 age group.

Yorkshire and Lancashire A and B teams meet annually towards the end of the rugby season. In April 2012 the A team just missed out after a last minute try by Lancashire, losing 17-22, but the B team had a convincing 36-0 victory. This isn't the first time Basilisk has supported community sports. The successful IT project management business sponsored the British Universities' Aikido team for the World Championship in 2005 and 2009, and has also supported local rugby and trampolining clubs.er a last minute try by Lancashire, losing 17-22, but the B team had a convincing 36-0 victory. Basilisk MD Craig Salt explained why he decided to commission the trophy. 'The B teams haven't had a trophy before, and when they play just as hard as the A team, it seems a little unfair that they have to sit and watch the winner of the A team match receive a trophy. Even when they win, the B team comes away with nothing.' The hand-crafted trophy was created by local artisan wood turner Gary Hodkin from Elm burr and apple, and is a unique piece of rugby art that can be fought for each year in the traditional 'War of the Roses' match. Yorkshire Under 15 Chairman of Selectors, David Hunter, said: 'I am extremely grateful for this trophy from Basilisk Data Ltd. It enables the county to demonstrate explicitly the importance that it places in the annual fixture between the Lancashire President's XV and the Yorkshire B XV. At this early stage in player's representative careers it is vital that we give the opportunity to as many young men as possible and this trophy allows us to openly demonstrate this belief. I know both the White Rose and the Red Rose counties firmly believe in this game although now we must maintain our enviable record of never losing. A record can now be engraved for posterity on this magnificent trophy.'
