BCC Director General visits Sheffield Chamber

8th April 2015

On Friday 27th March, John Longworth, the Director General of the BCC visited Sheffield Chamber to personally look at the revolutionary and innovative way that SYITC has exploited the opportunities offered by the Overseas Business Network for the benefits of its members.

The International Trade Centre is one of the most active in the country offering a 360 degree service in all things International. John was particularly interested in how the Chamber and SYITC introduced the BCC's Overseas Business Network to companies in South Yorkshire. Of the 5 large OBN events SYITC have held to date at the SYITC events centre, 258 business people from 229 South Yorkshire Companies have been introduced to 23 of the 41 OBN's. Nick Patrick will invite all of the 41 Overseas Business Network Members to Sheffield by the end of this year. John was invited to visit long standing Member Edward Pryor and Son Ltd who gave him a VIP tour of this traditional Sheffield business, showing the technical processes utilised when the company was first established in 1849 to the highly advanced and innovative laser marking techniques used today. Tom Sutton, the personal account manager for Pryor Marking Technologies arranged the visit because of their recent successes in international trade and the Sheffield Business Awards which resulted in Pryor taking home the prestigious 'Outstanding Business of the Year' award. The Team at Edward Pryor have also been in attendance at the series of OBN Events hosted at the Chamber so far and plan to attend future events that are arranged. Edward Pryor has found the events to be invaluable in assisting them to create a global professional network.
