Bhayani Bracewell Sponsors 6th Form Law Competition

Sheffield niche employment law firm, Bhayani Bracewell, is delighted to have once again given its support to the region's budding young lawyers by sponsoring the 2013 Inter-School Mock Trial Competition a project, which in collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield Law Society, is aimed at inspiring young people in our region to pursue a career in law.

Following the successful pilot of the scheme in 2012; the 2013 event was keenly anticipated by the sixth form students, who battled to win the title along with work experience opportunities with Bhayani Bracewell and other legal firms. Won by The Priory Academy Lincolnshire School of Science and Technology (LSST) this year, with the opposing team being Sheffield's Notre Dame High School, the interactive competition, which is aimed at giving the year 12 students a valuable insight into what a career in law entails, culminated in an exciting mock trial where the final two teams took on the roles of prosecution and defence. Not only did they have to prepare the cases themselves: they had to present them before a mock jury, which was made up of well-known local legal specialists and members of Sheffield Hallam University. Bhayani Bracewell's partner, Jay Bhayani, took the role of foreman of the jury and some of her colleagues played members of the jury. Jay says -I am as passionate about law as I am about giving people opportunities that they might not otherwise find available to them. This project is an ideal opportunity for us to show our real support to those young people with legal aspirations, who so clearly found it as enjoyable as I did. I hope that they will find the work opportunities that they have won with Bhayani Bracewell and other legal firms in the region as exciting as the thrill of the challenge they have just completed!.
