BHP appoints new partner

7th August 2013

Yorkshire's largest independent firm of Chartered Accountants Barber Harrison & Platt (BHP) has appointed partner Mike Jackson to lead its office in Leeds, as the firm, which has its headquarters in Sheffield, continues to grow.

The appointment of Mr Jackson reflects BHP's strategy of organic growth in its stated market places by way of lateral hire of highly experienced and respected professionals. Mr Jackson brings with him comprehensive experience, specialist knowledge in various sectors and a vivacious enthusiasm for supporting local businesses, which is fundamental to growing the firm. Having previously grown a practice from £3 million turnover to an excess of £7 million, Mr Jackson knows a lot about growing businesses. Recently he has headed up the Accounting and Business Advisory Group of a national firm's Yorkshire offices, as well as being the main contact within Yorkshire for Professional Practices. Mr Jackson also headed up the local Not for Profit Group and acted as audit partner to a large number of charity and education clients, including assisting a number of schools with their conversion to Academy status. He was one of the first to acquire the Institute's recognition by attaining the Diploma in Charity Accounting. Mr Jackson said -I am looking forward to being part of the team and helping to grow BHP in Yorkshire, making it the most well respected firm for owner managed businesses, professional practices and not for profit organisations, as well as the most desirable place to work in Yorkshire for accountants wanting to stay within private practice. BHP's Sheffield based Managing Partner John Warner said -I am looking forward to working closely with Mike as we develop our practice and continue to grow our firm across the region.
