BHP Corporate Finance celebrates award-winning success across Yorkshire

21st May 2021

BHP Corporate Finance has cemented its position as the number one financial advisor in Yorkshire to the owners and managers of SME’s following multiple award wins and recognition from one of the industry’s leading market intelligence platforms.

In Experian Market IQ’s latest regional review, BHP Corporate Finance was named Yorkshire and the Humber’s most active financial advisor after working on 11 transactions during this year’s first financial quarter.

This demonstrates a significant increase in deal activity for the firm against the challenges of a global pandemic, climbing from seventh place in the previous Q1 rankings in 2020.

Successful transactions that the team have advised upon include the sale of vehicle reconditioning and storage specialist Smart Fleet Solutions, which employs more than 500 people across four locations, to online car retailer Cazoo, the sale of Bradford based The Label Makers to Spanish based Printeos in a highly competitive global process, as well as Pharos Group’s sale of its power generation division to RSK Group.

BHP Corporate Finance also received the Corporate Finance Advisory Team of the Year award at Insider’s 2020 Yorkshire Dealmakers Awards, after its team of 16 dealmakers in Yorkshire completed 26 advisory deals with a combined deal value of around £180m in the review period.

Andy Haigh, Partner at BHP Corporate Finance, said: “As pandemic restrictions begin to ease, and the economic forecast shows signs of improvement, the resulting rise in business confidence has led to a real surge in demand when it comes to deal-making.

“I’m delighted we’ve managed to make such an impact across Yorkshire and the Humber during this first quarter of 2021. It wouldn’t have been possible without the expertise and knowledge of our specialist team, who’re already working hard to build on this success with a promising pipeline ahead for the rest of the year.”

According to Experian’s report, which is available online here, global M&A has seen one of its strongest ever starts to the year, with transactions worth upwards of £1tn.

This industry-wide pattern is reflected by specialist global mergers and acquisitions advisory network Translink Corporate Finance, which BHP Corporate Finance joined in 2019, being ranked 11th in Europe and 1st in the Nordics on the Refinitiv Q1 European M&A tables.

BHP Corporate Finance, who was also recently named Corporate Finance Advisory Firm of the Year at Insider’s 2020 Sheffield City Region Dealmakers Awards, provide a full range of personalised lead advisory and transaction support services for corporates, management teams, investors and funders.
