Generous Sheffield diners are raising lots of dough for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice after donating a stunning £20,000 through a charity partnership with Mowgli Street Food.

The popular Ecclesall Road Indian street food restaurant has been giving its customers the option to leave a donation to the charity on their bill – something that’s proved a huge success.

The optional extra on diners’ bills has raised an average of £1,000 each month since the partnership began in 2019.

A spokesperson for Mowgli, which has 13 restaurants throughout the UK, said:

“Our central mission is to enrich lives in the cities in which we operate so we’re absolutely delighted to be able to support local children and families through Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

“We take great pride in giving back to the communities we belong to and we’re incredibly grateful to our generous customers who’ve really embraced this ethos and helped make a real difference.”

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice needs to raise over £5m each year to be there for children and families through the toughest times they’ll ever face. The support of community-spirited businesses like Mowgli is an incredibly important part of this, and the charity are always keen to hear from firms who’d like to get involved.

Shannon Gossage, Regional Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood, said:

“We’d like to say a huge thank to Mowgli and all their wonderfully kind customers who’ve made a donation to Bluebell Wood.

“They have proved once and for all that food and love go hand in hand and we’d like them to know that every penny they’ve donated will help us make precious memories with families who sadly don’t know how long they have together.

“If there are any other Sheffield businesses that would be interested in launching a similar charity initiative, or offer their support in another way, we’d love to hear from you.”

Any business, individual or group in the Sheffield area who are interested in supporting Bluebell Wood can contact Shannon by emailing shannon.gossage@bluebellwood.org or calling 07376474325.
