Blades covered in glitter at Bluebell Wood

Sheffield United players have been covering themselves in glitter and glue at South Yorkshire's only children's hospice.

Players Jake Wright, Chris Basham, Clayton Donaldson, Nathan Thomas, Jake Eastwood, James Hanson and Blades legend Tony Currie called in at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice to spend time with families, staff and volunteers in the run up to the festive season. As well as handing out mini Sheffield United football kits to young fans, and match day tickets for families, the footballers rolled their sleeves up and joined children for messy play and craft making. Jake Wright said: -I am proud to be the SUFC Ambassador for Bluebell Wood. The work they do here is amazing. We always enjoy the Christmas visit and being able to meet with the children and their families as well as with staff and volunteers. The smiles make it all worthwhile. Sue Beeley, Player Liaison Officer, said: -It is great to get all the players out to our nominated charities at Christmas and everyone who visits Bluebell Wood says what a wonderful place it is and how much they enjoy the visit. We are always warmly welcomed and appreciate the relaxed atmosphere. It is a pleasure to support this charity. Gail Parkin, Community Fundraiser for Bluebell Wood in Sheffield, said: -We were delighted to welcome the Blades. They were fantastic with our children and families and got really involved with our activities, even when it meant getting covered in glitter and glue. We're all about living with love and laughter at Bluebell Wood and the Club's visit definitely did that.
