Blades support for Kick It Out
5th January 2016
Sheffield United demonstrated its commitment to inclusion in football by supporting the anti-discrimination organisation, 'Kick It Out'.
For the fixture against Peterborough United at Bramall Lane, the stadium featured messages in support of 'Kick It Out', and a statement of support was read out by Club match day host, Gary Sinclair, both before the game and at half time. 'Kick It Out' noise clappers were held up by ball boys during the pre-match guard of honour, and a large 'Kick it Out' flag was held up by the Club's Supporters Liaison Officers in front of the pre-match players respect handshake, with another laid across the Bramall Lane End Lower seating. Concourses and the ticket office displayed 'Kick It Out' posters, and the Club's social media also carried 'Kick It Out' messaging, as did the stadium's big screen. Sheffield United's Operations Director, Dave McCarthy, said: -Sheffield United has always been a Club with the community at its heart and remains on the 'front foot' to help rid football of discrimination. -The presence of 'Kick It Out' during the Peterborough game was planned a while ago, but recent events mean that the messaging displayed against Peterborough carries even greater significance. -As a football club, Sheffield United remains committed to kicking discrimination of any kind out of football.
