Blades take top spot in corporate fitness challenge

A team of staff from Sheffield United were crowned champions of an inaugural corporate fitness challenge.

The Blades Commercial Team came out on top of the Fitness Unlimited Corporate Active Challenge in the newly refurbished gym at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre. Eight teams from Sheffield organisations including Sheffield Hallam University, the Star and HR Media donned their sports gear to go head-to-head in five fitness activities. Participants completed rowing and cycling challenges, the monkey bars and tested their endurance and reactions on the innovative PAVIGYM system which lights up the gyms walls and floors. Paul Reeves, head of commercial at Sheffield United, said: -It was great to be invited to attend the event and we were proud to be crowned winners in a highly competitive challenge! -The new gym facility is fantastic and it brings a real fun and fresh element to a workout. It was a good way of seeing how fit our staff are and we are delighted to have come through the test with flying colours. After being announced as the winners of the challenge, the Sheffield United team was awarded with four Fitness Unlimited three month memberships, four MyZone belts, a fitness tracker device and a free t-shirt. Second place went to Crisis and Hallam FM finished third.
