Bluebell Wood to collect donations from people’s homes

Bag it up and we’ll come and collect it safely from your home – that’s the message Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is sending to those eager to donate pre-loved items.

After suspending donations and collections through lockdown, the charity is now booking in collection slots for items that people have kindly put to one side.

To book a free collection, which will start week commencing June 8th, all you need to do is fill out the form here https://www.bluebellwood.org/pickupmystuff or call 01909 498 996 between 10am and 3pm.

All donations will help the charity’s care team support some of the most vulnerable children and families in our communities.

Alison Firth, Retail Support Co-Ordinator at Bluebell Wood, said: “We’ve had so many generous offers from our incredible supporters who’ve been having lockdown clear-outs.

“So, in line with the latest Government guidance, we’re very pleased to announce we’re now arranging free, safe collections.

“Donations will then be delivered to our network of charity shops, ready to go on sale when the time is right to reopen our shops. It really couldn’t be easier.

“As well as clearing some much needed space in your home, you’ll be helping some of the most vulnerable in our communities at a time when they need our support more than ever.”

Bluebell Wood’s network of shops remain closed for the time being, but work is underway to reopen them safely.

“We’re currently working on a plan to safely reopen shops and we’re very much looking forward to welcoming all our wonderful customers back when it’s safe to do so,” said Alison.

“In the meantime, we’re asking people not to leave items at our shops or at the donation station at the hospice until we advise otherwise.

“We also want our supporters to feel as safe as possible when arranging collections, which is why we have put a series of measures to in place to maintain social distancing and minimise risk.

“The wellbeing of our staff, volunteers, supporters and customers is our top priority so please rest-assured all the measures we have put in place are there to keep people safe.”
