Bramall Lane to host England U21s Euro qualifier

14th December 2017

England U21s will head to Bramall Lane for their next Euro 2019 qualifier against Ukraine in March.

The match will take place at the home of Sheffield United on Tuesday 27th March, kicking-off at 6pm and there's a huge 50 per cent discount for Blades season ticket offices. Aidy Boothroyd's side currently sit top of qualifying group four, five points clear of joint-second placed Ukraine and will be looking to continue their unbeaten run to date. It's the return fixture from November's trip to Kiev, where a goal from Liverpool's Dominic Solanke and a second-half own goal from Ukraine's Pavlo Lukyanchuk secured the spoils for England during their last outing. And it's also a return to South Yorkshire for the Young Lions, who attracted over 26,000 at the Steel City venue when the U21s recorded an emphatic 6-0 win over Scotland in August 2013. That particular international formed part of the Football Association's 150th anniversary celebrations, with then senior boss Roy Hodgson taking charge of the team. Head coach Boothroyd said: -We're really looking forward to returning to Bramall Lane for our next Euro qualifier. -The stadium has hosted a number of England's development fixtures and is a fantastic venue. As we've seen in those previous matches, the people of Sheffield love their football. -The city has a great deal of football history and we're delighted to be heading there to contest what is an important qualifying game. Sheffield United's operations director, Dave McCarthy, added: -It is a great honour for Bramall Lane to be selected to stage such a prestigious and indeed important Euro 2019 Qualifier and shows how our stadium and indeed playing surface is gaining a superb reputation in the game. -We really hope the game can attract a big crowd from around the region to roar the U21s on, in what should be a fantastic game. The offers made by the FA and ticket prices for the game make it an affordable night of international action at Bramall Lane and one not to be missed. -We would encourage all 20,000+ Blades season ticket holders to take advantage of the '50% off' offer before the end of January so as not to miss out.
